Rain
Rain
It seemed like as a kid every time there was a day I was looking forward to was plagued by rain. The anticipation of a ball game, picnic, trip to "Opryland," rain, rain, and more rain. Now the reality is that the rain only came sometimes and in fact it rained probably about the same % on those days as it did on less important days.
But that's not the point. In Micheal W. Smiths song "Alicia" there is a line I love..."Into every life a little rain must fall, when you loose someone you love it's like a storm, but storms are passing".
I am not sure who came up with the concept of luck or who decided there were "bad days" as opposed to "normal days with bad things". Look we all have rain in our life. Bad things happen, things that shape us, hurt us, harden us, and drive us. Whoever came up with the concept of luck really screwed us up. I mean how many times do you have just incredible good luck that can match the ferocity of a "life storm", someone dies, someone is diagnosed with a disease, someone looses their home in a fire. Rarely do I win the lottery, because I don't play.
Here is the kicker, what is clear weather? It is just that, clear rain free weather. So maybe in this imperfect world, we cannot bank on cosmic balance. Just because there have been some terrible storms latley, they pass, and clear weather comes again. We cannot wait for something equally good to happen to match the storm because thats not how life works. We take joy in the everyday life God has given us. Some have a lot less rain but all of us should value the clear days more.
